I was reading about Maslow's concept of peak experiences about ten minutes ago. As I sat outside and reflected on the three memorable moments that came to mind I began to think about the pleasure I would be filled with as a child simply by laying on grass and watching clouds pass. I then looked up to the sky and had what Maslow called and ultimate peak experience.

Up near the clouds were two circling golden eagle mates. At that moment, the symbolism overwhelmingly filled me with a sense of completeness, awe, and unity. It was an orgasmic revelation unlike any other I had encountered and filled me with so much joy it was incomparable. I am still reeling from it.

True uninhibited freedom was realized. I realized that man's greatest tool, his mind, which has set us apart from other animals came with the cost of conscious awareness of concepts of past and future. Time seemed to stand still as George W's doublespeak echoed in my head as I witnessed the true freedom of nature. Ubiquitous natural balances were realized. Bees pollenating flowers brought thoughts to my mind of the sacred nature and peak experience of childbirth and just how completely twisted many people have come to view each other in terms of sexual relations. Conditional love is not love at all.

These thoughts and revelations were instantaneous. The best way to describe it was that it felt like my whole body had an orgasm that came from my mind. It was joy and love all in its purest form and I hope I experience another like that in my lifetime because it made the other three I had previously experienced seem trivial in intensity.

One of my three other experiences occurred when I helped provide first aid to a child whose head crashed through the windshield of his father's car. As others were milling around and in shock at the gruesome scene I rushed in and instinctively gave first aid for a spinal and severe head injury and started shouting orders to the shocked bystanders in terms of what to do in that situation to the other three passengers. The second occurred when I was playing soccer and time seemed to slow as I performed a spectacular goal from outside the eighteen yard box. A long cross came to me from high in the air from the edge of the field and I kneed the ball up in the air with my right quad then came across with a large sweeping kick sideways in mid air and I fell to the ground sideways in a thud. That game was being watched by my paternal grandfather and he still talks about it. The third was more personal than the other two.

Getting back to temperament, Maslow says that those of the idealist temperament are the only ones who seem to be able to experience these moments. My friend James says he has them all the time although I'm sure he's exaggerating. That is, unless he is more self actualized than I am which is likely the case.
